What is Notta?
Notta is an iOS app for local notes, ebook reading, AI chat, knowledge graph notes, and daily diary reflections. It uses the Notta app name and bundle identity on iOS.
Where is my data stored?
Notes, ebooks, diary entries, chat history, attachments, and preferences are stored locally on your device. Notta iOS 1.0 does not expose iCloud sync. Please keep normal device backups if you rely on the app for important content.
How do I set up AI?
Open Notta Settings, choose your AI provider or Custom Provider, enter the provider URL, model, and API key, then test the connection. Notta stores your credential on device and uses Keychain for the API key where supported by the app.
Does Notta provide an AI account or free tokens?
No. Notta uses a bring-your-own-key model. Your provider controls pricing, usage limits, data retention, and availability. If an AI request fails, check your provider URL, model name, API key, account balance, and network connection.
How do ebook imports work?
You can import supported files through the file picker, AirDrop, or iOS "Open In" / share sheet flows. Notta supports EPUB, MOBI, AZW, AZW3, PDF, TXT, and Markdown. Imported books are stored locally and appear in the Reading tab.
What are book citations in chat?
When you ask questions from a book or reading context, Notta can include relevant original text in the conversation so you can see what the answer is based on. AI answers can still be wrong, so compare important answers with the original text.
How does the daily diary work?
The daily Notta diary is a private note generated from recent local context when the feature runs. It is intended as a personal reflection, not a permanent external record. You can edit or delete diary notes like other local content.
Voice input and transcription
Voice input requires microphone permission. Local transcription requires the offline model to be downloaded before use. If voice input is unavailable, check microphone permission, available storage, and whether the model download completed.
